With world’s in Canberra only 7 weeks away, and the Monty Kamel getting a little tired, I decided it was time for a new bike. To satisfy this urge I built up a Koxx Silver Sky almost from scratch. Naturally being the weight-weenie I am, I was aiming for a light bike in the 8kg to 8.5 kg range. So here it is, complete with hugely ugly downtube protector.
I used the front wheel from the kamel, just to make the colour scheme even worse…

I’m using a Trialtech half ring for extra ground clearance and general weight-weenie properties. The bashguard mount under the bottom bracket will be removed in time.
A 160mm rear rotor just fits with a new chain. It’ll be nicer once it stretches though.
How could I resist a TNN top cap. The Trialtech stem complements it nicely and with a Trialtech Ti bolt kit comes in nice and light.
The Onza rear rim is sensational. Only marginally heavier than others such as monty and koxx but its eyeleted which I like.
So I was quite vague about the weight earlier. Thats because it exceded all expectations. Without the downtube protector it weighs 7.8kg. Now if only I could ride it like Benito…
